These darsanas are classified into two broad groups: the astika-darsanas and the nastika-darsanas. The former accept the authority of the Vedas whereas the latter do not.
The former, being six in number, is often called 'saddarsanas' (sat = six)
They are:
The Nyayadarsana of Gautama
The Vaisesikadarsana of Kanada
The Sankhyadarsana of Kapila
The Yogadarsana of Patanjali
The Mimamsadarsana of Jaimini
And the Vedantadarsana of Badarayana.
