About the Authors
Subir Biswas, Professor of anthropology, is the founder Head of the Department of Anthropology, West Bengal State university. He was also one of the founder faculty of the department of Anthropology, North Bengal University. He has to his credit several research projects of UGC, ICSSR, CWS (NBU), UGC-IUC Associateship at IIAS, Shimla; and successfully guided 10 doctorate and 2 PDF scholars. He has published 12 edited books as well as several research articles. At present he is the General Secretary of the Indian Anthropological Society.

Dr Suman Chakrabarty, is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Anthropology in Mrinalini Datta Mahavidyapith, a Government-Aided undergraduate degree College under West Bengal State University, India. He received his bachelor', Master's and PhD degrees in Anthropology from the University of Calcutta, India. Dr Chakrabarty ranked 1" class 1" during his Master's in 2002. From 2003 to 2009, he became a Junior and Senior Research Fellow of the Biological Anthropology Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, India. Subsequently, he was also awarded the Dr D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2009 by University Grants Commission, India. His teaching and research expertise is mainly confined to the Anthropological understanding of human health and nutrition. He has published more than 65 research articles, one edited book and has completed multiple research projects.

Preface
The book is the outcome of a 51" Annual Conference of the Indian Anthropological Society & International Seminar on "Anthropology of Health and Disease: Past, Present and Future" jointly organized by the Department of Anthropology, West Bengal State University, Barasat, Kolkata - 700126 and The Indian Anthropological Society, India from 21" December to 23 December, 2021. A number of researchers, research scholars, students, faculties and eminent Anthropologists from diverse disciplines participated from India and aboard through online as well as offline modes in the event and presented their precious research work in various aspects of population health and well being in the context of the both tribal and non-tribal population. Out of all presented research, 13 articles have been accepted for the publication in this book after rigorous editorial review and meticulous editing processes. These articles deal not only the Anthropological understanding of health and disease of interplaying between human biology, culture, and physical environments but also constructed a unique platform to open the door of deep-rooted dialogue between multiple stakeholders to solve the health sciences problem. This dimension is accurate in the current pandemic scenario when community perception of disease and its culturally governed human action is focused on combating unprecedented global health crisis.
