Book Description

About the Book

"What do I do with all that I see, hear, read and observe? I can ignore, forget, complain or postpone ... But I needed to write and express in words what I saw ... and I will continue to ... "

Kiran Bedi, in her usual refreshingly candid style, shares wide-ranging issues which have angered, inspired or fascinated her. Through her matter-of- fact style of writing, she draws her readers into situations that they may either not have access to or may tend to ignore.

As I See ... is a persistent effort by the author to encourage greater awareness about various social and ethical issues in a hope to invoke, provoke and inspire readers to heightened levels of sensitivity, participation and response.

About the Author

Dr. Kiran Bedi is India's first and highest ranking woman officer in the Indian Police Service. Her experience and expertise include more than 33 years of tough, responsive and interactive policing, within India and outside.

She has represented India at the United Nations, and in international forums on crime prevention, drug trafficking and abuse, prison reform, women's issues and peace- keeping operations.

Recipient of the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award (also called the Asian Nobel Prize), and several other decorations, Dr. Bedi is the author of four books and a regular columnist with leading dailies, newspapers and magazines. She is also a very sought after speaker on various social, professional and leadership issues at national and international forums.

She is the founder of two Non- Governmental Organizations, Navjyoti and India Vision Foundation, that provide drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation, residential schooling for children of prisoners, in addition to education, training, counselling, and health care to the urban and rural poor.
