Underlining India’s rich tradition of love for nature and birds, the book deals with the complicated and technical subject of Ornithology in a style convenient for the general reader. With an endeavour to provide comprehensive information about various aspects of birds and bird watching and the integral place that they command in the Indian cultural life since the ancient times, the book also traces the origin of the names of some of the birds. Translated by the author himself from the original Hindi edition adding some new information, the book is likely to be of use for a wider segment of bird lovers.
