This book is for the traveller who is adventurous enough to go beyond the routine path tourists and pilgrims take while visiting the many temples of Tamil Nadu. The temples covered in this book are all well worth a visit for their settings, the art and poetry associated with them and for their inscriptions. The book also briefly describes the growth of temples in Tamil Nadu as social, political and economic institutions. Short histories of some of the important cities of Tamil Nadu from where you can visit these temples will help you see the cities and temples in better context. So, dear reader do you care to be different?
