About the Book

Urdu poetry is today popular not only among Urdu knowing people, but it is equally relished and read by non-Urdu reading people. And when Urdu poems are written and recited by women, it adds special flavour and great interest for readers and audience of all age groups.

This is a collection of Urdu poems by eight prominent women poets of India and Pakistan, and includes their most applauded poems in original Urdu text, English, Hindi and Roman scripts.

This is our tenth publication under our multilingual poetry series, after collections of Ghalib, Iqbal, Zafar, Sahir Ludhianvi, shakeel Budauni, Qateel Shafai, Ahmad Faraz, Josh Malihabadi and Amrita Pritam.

Urdu poetry is popular not only among Urdu-Hindi knowing people, but is equally liked and relished by all those who may not be able to read this script.

STAR had introduced a series of selected poetry of popular Urdu poets in which each poem is translated into English, and the text in Urdu, Hindi and roman scripts. The popularity of these books encouraged us to bring more and more collections under the same series.

This collection includes selected poems of eight popular Urdu poetesses of India and Pakistan, and we hope that the readers will find these to their interest and liking.
