The celebrated Srlmad Bhagvad GWi, in its sweep of thought, providing the strength of wisdom to humanity and solace to every soul to overcome despondency and dejection is unique in the entire literature of the whole world. The unique has always an universal appeal. Hence this dialogue between Arjuna, a representative of human soul, and Lord Krsna, the divine incarnation, has been translated in almost all the languages of the world. Thousands of people have drawn inspiration from Gita to live their life faithfully and make it more meaningful.

The setting of the story of the origin of the Gita is in the battle field in the Mahabharata where this philosophical dialogue takes place. The frame work and the setting have been so powerfully worked out that the whole dialogue assumes a symbolical and cosmic dimension and transcends it original setting and design. Arjuna, a troubled and dejected soul, becomes a representative of the whole mankind struggling to find answers to their eternal questions and doubts.

This philosophical divine song has not severed from the trials and tribulations of the day-to-day life of a common man and here lies its significance and profundity as a song of philosophy of life. If a person is a poet or a philosopher, a savant or a saint, a mystic or a religious reformer, a leader or a layman, he or she would be certainly benefitted if he or she reads the Gita. The Gita preaches a person from what to eat or how to speak or the think upto how to realise the Highest Reality.

Gita, a celebrated song celestial is far away from either fundamentalism or dogmatism. It is not only a comprehensive religious or a spiritual book but also a guide in the practical life. It's gospel of activism - Karma-Yoga is a very valuable contribution to the philosophy and life. The Gita does proclaim to wage a war against evil but with equanimity. The Gita does preach the humanity to indulge in action but with detachment. The Gita does ask mankind to renounce the attachment and not the action. In fact the Gita preaches not the renunciation of action, but the renunciation in action. The Gita does preach the path of devotion but it should be coupled with knowledge. The knowledge according to the Gita msut be imbued with action. Gita teaches man how to love the Lord or to sympathies with each and every human being. In fact the Gita is the voice of an old intelligence which is contemporary to every age hence it commands enduring or everlasting value.
