Publisher's Note

Swami Vivekananda is widely known as a spiritual personality. But that he is also a philosopher who has made original contribution to the proper exposition of the age-old non-dualistic philosophy of India in the light of modern milieu, is perhaps not so well known or acknowledged. Swamiji himself expressed a desire to write a commentary on the Brahmasutras to cater to the present day understating. Unfortunately, he could not live that long to fulfil the wish. To our knowledge, no substantial research has been conducted so far to establish the point technically.

Through the present booklet titled 'Swami Vivekananda as a Philosopher', Dr. J. L. Shaw, Victoria University, Wellington, New Zeland, who has been working on comparative philosophy for nearly three decades, tries to offer a few significant arguments to substantiate the view. We are happy to bring out this booklet for the benefit of the reading public and scholars. If the booklet interests the readers to take up further studies on the subject our effort shall be amply rewarded.
