In the full moon night of the sarat season, when the moon shone brightly illuminating the sky, the rasa dance took place. The gopis desired for Krishna to be their husband and during this dance, Krishna expanded himself.

In the middle of the circular dance, Radha and Krishna dance blissfully. Around them the gopis dance with similar forms of Krishna. Some play the musical instruments, while others simply enjoy the rhythmic movements of their bodies. Dressed in the most beautiful finery and ornaments, they look excited as Krishna has made their dream come true. The lush green surroundings shield them from the world of ordinary mortals. The grass is sprayed with flowers; peacocks strut in the foreground as the water fountain adds to the nature's beauty.

Interestingly, the painter avoids overlapping as much as possible. The stance of the people are expressive and monotony is carefully avoided. The postures of all are replete with movement and fluency lending grace and fluidity to this brilliantly coloured miniature.
