A special Tribute to Commemorate Dr. Prabha Atre’s 75th Birthday.
Performer author composer and teacher of music Dr. Prabha Atre is one of the senior most front ranking vocalists in the country representing the Kirana gharana today. Her constant innovation and creative endeavour has distinguished her from other vocalist both in the classical and light classical idioms.
Dr. Atre has set up Dr. Prabha Atre Foundation which aims to promote the cause of Indian classical music and performing arts. She has also established Swaramayee Gurukali which strives to bridge the gap between academic institutions and the traditional guru-Shishy parampara and nurture talented students into professionals who aspire to take up music as career.
Dr. Atre has authored academic books on various aspects of music. Her first book swaramayee bagged the Maharashtra state Govt. Award in 1989. ‘Swaraalee’ Published in 1992 also received accolades. Her books in English enlightening the listener contemporary North Indian classical vocal Music performance and along the path of music helped global music lovers to understand and appreciate Indian music ‘Anthaswar’ a book o poems in Marathi displayed a different aspect of her creativity.
Dr. Atre is the proud recipient of the National Award Padmashree (1990) the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1991) the Padmabhusan (2002) the prestigious Kalihas Samman (2004) instituted by the government of Madhay Pradesh and has also been bestowed with the title Gaanprabha by Jagatguru Shankaracharya.

Be it khayaal, Tarana, Thumri, dadra ghazal or bhajan her style and ingenuity are distinct in design and presentation.
