Aiming to evoke their feelings of empathy with the Buddha’s enlightenment through music, Chinmaya, guitars and programming, together with Karunesh, claypot, Bikram Singh, bamboo flute and Amano Manish, Indian slide guitar chose to play ragas associated with morning in the Indian classical tradition.

Indian classical music, based on an ancient tradition of meditation, comes closest of all music to expressing the inner silence of an Awakened One. Our music is rooted in that tradition, full of space and timelessness, always patiently awaiting the heart’s timing. For us to play it is a journey of discovery, opening paths into an unknown that is always fresh and new.

Long years of training and the use of natural acoustic instrument are our tools, with which we invite you to share this journey, into the depths of music and silence.

This music was recorded in India at dawn on a Full Moon morning in May. This is the time at which, according to tradition, Buddha reached enlightenment. It is also said to be the time at which he was both conceived and left his body.

The result is mostly improvised, with the music flowing organically between different motifs as the morning progresses.

East - West fusion maestro Chinmaya Dunster teams up with two virtuoso Indian classical musicians for a live performance of two morning ragas. The whole CD remains stately and tranquil, rooted in the meditative atmosphere surrounding dawn on a full moon night.

This is hypnotic music to unwind to, to use as background for a massage, and careful listening reveals a trance-like depth. Timeless.
