Devi Lakshmi In The Service Of Lord Vishnu

$195
The Lord Vishnu in a dhoti of rich golden yellow. A bejewelled crown on His head and the Devi Lakshmi, His wife, cradling His feet. Within the mystical coils of Sheshanaga lie the divine couple, projecting existence into being. The smooth, ivory-coloured underbelly of Sheshanaga sets off the crimson silk of the Devi’s attire, its creases in keeping with the devotional language of Her body. A solid background of an unassuming brown colour, superimposed with faint spirals a sheer white hue.

There is a world of details in this seemingly minimalistic watercolour. Lord Vishnu looks up at the multitude of Sheshanaga’s hoods reaching over them both. The laidback stance of each of His four arms (He is chaturbhujadhari, possessed of four arms), the angavastram irretrievably wound around them. The divine implements of each of those hands floating in the air in His line of vision. The gossamer aanchal of His wife that has slid off Her bosom, of which She is wholly unaware, so devoted She is to the comfort and pleasure of Her husband.
