A serene Shiva iconography with some elements of the wrathful Nataraja. A gorgeously coloured, wood-carved seated Nataraja murti that is in keeping with the iconography found in South Indian temples. The most interesting aspect of this Shiva murti is the high plinth, featuring multiple tiers of colourful lotus petals and occupying roughly half the overall stature.

The crimson-bodied Shiva smiles down at ihaloka. A compassionate gaze emerges from His handsome brow. He is chaturbhujadhari, with a quadruped in one of His posterior hands, which is symbolic of His Pashupatinath-roopa. The wrath and dynamism of Nataraja lies primarily in the thick black locks flayed horizontally about His face.

This seated wooden Shiva has a world of colour and texture. While it borrows heavily from the iconography found in South Indian temples of yore, it would look lovely within the contemporary space of the modern-day devotee.
