A vajra also known as Dorji is a ritual object associated with Tibetan Buddhism. It holds a significant symbolism of the tantric Buddhism branches from the Vajrayana school of Buddhism, which contains rituals to allow its followers to achieve enlightenment in a single lifetime, in a thunderbolt flash of indestructible clarity. A vajra can hold three, five, or nine spokes that usually close at each end in a lotus shape. The number of spokes and the way they meet at the ends hold their meanings and symbolism.

The Five-pronged vajra is the most common vajra used for rituals. It represents the five pearls of wisdom that one can attain through the transcendence of the five kleshas. Kleshas in Buddhism are mental states that are attained through unholy actions, and the five Kleshas represented by the five-pronged vajra symbols are Greed, Anger, delusion, pride, and envy. Additionally, the pronged vajra also represents the five cosmic directions of Buddhas.
