She is clad in a dhoti, the hems of which serve to reveal the delicate beauty of Her golden feet. A narrow waist supports a full, maternal chest overlain with an ornate breastband and layered necklaces. She is the Chaturbhujadharini, the one possessed of (‘dharini’) four (‘chatur’) arms (‘bhuja’), in the posterior pair of which She holds golden lotuses. Indeed, the lotus motif is crucial to Vaishnavite iconography. Midway through the two lotuses is the svarna-mukhamandala (luminescent countenance) of the Devi, its gracious features set off by the tall crown tapering above Her head.
