It is a well-known fact that Hanuman was born of divine parents. His father was Vayu, the wind god, and his mother was Anjani who had been transformed into a monkey under the spell of a curse. Working in brass the sculptor has magnificently carved out this sculpture aptly depicting the innate cosmic strength of Lord Hanuman in unique five tones of blended green and gold, amazing chola giving it an ancient touch, bright combination of copper, silver and gold, lustrous yellow-gold and distinct silver. The facial expressions and structure of his body are etched in a superfine way justifying his brawny appearance and nature.

He stands here on a finely carved pedestal in lotus petals with his legs widened and folded knees depicting his vigorous build. Lord is adorned in an extensively carved short dhoti and a traditionally designed kamarband that has long ends that fall gracefully in the centre; the long heavy stole hung across his shoulders touches the pedestal and embraces his royalty. The two hands are postured in their symbolic gestures of granting a boon of fearlessness and the other holding his luxuriously carved mace (gada). The lavish jewels embellished on his body complement with the sun-haloed crown crafted in a conventionalized pattern of a pointed top. His long tail is carved forming an aureole to his divine head is a representation of his strong will.

The Mighty Hanuman: Exploring the Legends and Significance of the Monkey God

Hanuman is mentioned in several Vedic works of literature such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Srimad Bhagavatam. He is the dearest devotee of Lord Ramachandra, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is always engaged in the service of the Lord and the Lord always looks out for Hanuman every moment. Hanuman is often depicted tearing apart his chest and an image of Ram and Sita is seen which means that He is always absorbed in the transcendental thoughts of Shri Shri Sita Ram. In the Vaishnava traditions or Sampradayas, Hanuman plays a huge role in the spiritual life of a Sadhaka. Without getting the mercy of Hanuman, no one can get closer to Lord Ram. He is the very personification of devotion and dedication.

He has a monkeylike form and is bestowed with extraordinary powers and capabilities. But He does not use his powers to show to others, rather, he uses them in the service of Sita and Ram. The devotees of Ram always follow in the footsteps of Sri Hanuman to become sincere servants of the Lord.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
