KUNDALINI- THE COSMIC ENERGY -

The Kundalini term as "the coiled power" like a serpent"- a kind of "cosmic energy" that accumulates at the base of the spine. When awakened, Kundalini is described as rising up from the Muladhara chakra through different chakras and reach the top of the head, Sahasrara or crown chakra, producing an extremely profound transformation of consciousness. Kundalini awakening through meditation has been represented through the symbol of the serpent. The spirit of a serpent can be thought of as a rebirth, a transformation, and healing of the old form (be that mind, body, and spirit) as it sheds it’s skin and regenerates a new being. Snakes have also been thought of as an eternal and continual renewal of life. The kundalini symbolises the unmanifest energy, power & alertness within you.To express this state of consciousness, a snake is shown around Lord Shiva and also in the Kundalini pose over and around the Shivalinga.
