Lord Ganesha Flanked By Devi Figurines

This Lord Ganesha murti would be a valuable addition to the home of any devotee. It is a resplendent, life-sized composition that depicts the son of Shiva seated on a lotus pedestal and surrounded by an arrangement that is as good as a temple. The figure in the centre is of the most adorable deity of the Hindoo pantheon, the bala-deva (child-deity) Ganesha. Upon the signature lotus pedestal He is seated with His legs gathered in the stance of a child.

At the base of the pedestal to the left is His vahana, the mouse, blowing upon a trumpet as if to herald the auspiciousness of His presence. To the right is a kalasha-and-coconut arrangement, an offering made to deities during pooja (ritual worship). Pedestal upwards the composition is poised upon a set of five statement panels, each of which depicts the musical side of Lord Ganesha. Zoom in on each of them to see five different musical instruments, across wind, string, and percussion, that the Lord is playing on. Note the series of miniscule but elongated lotus petals at the base of each of the musical panels.

The richly adorned Lord Ganesha is flanked by Devi figurines engraved into the pillars that hold up the aureole. Layers upon layers of lotus petals, topped off with a multi-tiered stoopa-like zenith. Unmistakably enough, the solid aureole that frames the composition features a formidable Kirtimukham motif at the very top.
