The composition and charm of this Lord Buddha sculpture provides an essence of calmness, soothe and devotion in the eyes of the viewer; carved in extreme flamboyance and accuracy, Buddha sits in padmasana and his eyes are closed reflecting his action of deep meditation and concern for preaching enlightenment to his disciples. He holds a beautifully decorated begging bowl in his left hand symbolizing him to be the head of the order. This bowl is also a symbol of realization of necessity and luxury and right hand faces the front in Abhaya mudra of fearlessness having a sacred Buddhist symbol imprinted on it, identifying him as a divine self. The three lines on his neck, long earlobes, and a wavy dot on forehead (third eye of wisdom) are a symbolic representation of his iconography.
Notice the unimaginative creativity of the sculptor while carving out his robe; the orange thick beaded border is an amazing eye catcher to his floral garment. Entire robe is inlayed with big white and green flowers with reconstituted stones on a bright red colored background; all the flowers are connected together with a mesh of coiled antique colored vines. Zoom in to appreciate the blue coiled hair that complement with the bright multicolored robe. The glossy brass used to model this sculpture beautifully highlights his features and attires.
