Kashmiri Robe with Aari Embroidered Paiselys and Florals

$245
Kashmir’s woolens are to die for. The crown jewel of traditional Indian fashion, their shawls and robes, and jackets are made from an endemic variety of fabric. What is more, the finish of a Kashmiri ensemble is inimitable. The men’s robe that you see on this page is a fine example of the same. Fashioned from pure homegrown wool, it is a longline front-open number designed to be tied with a matching fabric belt. Note the variety of colors it comes in - dark green and an unassuming grey as well as a pale, earthy tint of red.

The ariwork on this jacket is a signature of Kashmiri handiwork. It starts all the way around the collar and traverses down the length of the frontal edges of the robe. Embroidered is a series of slender, double-paisley motifs, one as if a mirror-image of the other. Matching embroidery is to be found along the mouths of the spacious pockets on either side of the robe and the ends of the airy, full-length sleeves. While the grey and green ones feature embroidery in contrasting colors, the embroidery on the red number is a complementary shade of the same color.
