Brocade, often pronounced as ‘Brocar’. The word is made of two Kurdish words in Arabic, ‘Bro’, which means the prophet and ‘Car’, which means job or craft. Brocade is a very popular ornate shuttle-woven fabric. Brocade is often made with colorful threads silk, polyester, cotton, and sometimes with gold and silver threads. Due to the patronage of Mughal emperor Akbar, this beautiful textile reached its peak during the Mughal period. This embroidery has also been significantly talked about in the Vedic literature.
