Kerala murals and their riveting iconography have been devoted to the legends of Hindu tradition, the crown jewel of which in Indian art are the Lilas of Sri Krishna. In this magnificently divine acrylic on canvas by Arun Kumar, the beauty of Kerala murals comes to life, with the heart-warming togetherness of Krishna with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama.

Adorned in the classical ornamentation of Kerala murals- elongated and elaborate crowns, earrings, gemmed necklaces, and dhotis with intricate adornment, the three divinities fill the canvas with their heavenly presence. Krishna stands in the middle, glowing like a splendid turquoise, holding his flute and striking a lovely posture. He is accompanied by Sri (the goddess of wealth) as Rukmini and Bhudevi (goddess of earth) as Satyabhama, amplifying the majesty of their beloved with their ethereal aura.

The golden-hued Rukmini gazes at her husband with affection, carrying a flute in her hand as an offering to him. Satyabhama too stands in a beautiful pose, smiling gently, and holding a sprig on which the deer standing nearby feeds. The deer pair present on the canvas is an ancient symbol of conjugal bliss, used astutely by the artist. A white floral garland runs through the canvas, connecting the three deities as one, symbolizing the auspicious togetherness of Vishnu with Sri and Bhudevi which is the cause of life and its sustenance.
