Lord Ganesha is the prominent deity of prosperity and wisdom in Hinduism, making his depictions significant throughout India. The devotion of Ganesha is not just limited to Hinduism but widely extended to Jains, Buddhists, and even beyond India.

Ganesh Chaturthi is an auspicious 10-day festivity marking the birth of an elephant-headed deity best known as Lord Ganesha. Every year, Ganesha’s birth is celebrated for 10 days straight during which 4 major rituals Prana Pratishtha, Shodashopachara, Uttar puja, and Visarjan are performed.

In these festivities, Ganesha deities are made of clay often decorated with fresh flowers and dainty lights set up in homes and even on public stages known as Pandals. Prana Pratishtha is conducted along with ritual mantras that are chanted to seek blessings from lord Ganesha. Ganesha Mantras are Sidhi Mantras, each containing specific powers of Lord Ganesha. When Chanted with proper devotion will lead the devotee with abundance, success, and prudence.

Three Vedic Gayatri Mantras :

Gayatri refers to the special Vedic mantras that focus on invoking the consciousness of the deity. These are the three Gayatri mantras that are included during puja and Yajna making them a powerful japa chanted repeatedly regulating breathing according to the aligned rhythm to establish a connection with Lord Ganapati:

ॐ एकदंताय विद्महे, वक्रतुण्डाय धीमहि, तन्नो दंती प्रचोदयात्

We devote ourselves to the one tusked. 

We meditate and pray for greater intellect in front of him with the curved elephant trunk. May the single tusk guide us on the right path, we bow down in front of him.

ॐ तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे वक्रतुण्डाय धीमहि तन्नो दन्ती प्रचोदयात्

We devote our gratitude to the supreme person, meditating for the one with a curved trunk. May the tusked one guide us on the right path.

ॐ तत् कराताय विद्महे हस्तिमुखाय धीमहि तन्नो दन्तिः प्रचोदयात्

We devote our prayers to the lord, we meditate for his elephant face.

Significant Ganesha Mantras

Ganesha Mantras are Sidhi Mantras, each one having powers of Lord Ganesha. When these Mantras are chanted with proper and sincere devotion, they bring positive blessings. Similar to the mantras related to other gods, Ganesha Mantras hold a lot of importance when chanted with immense power.

ॐ गम् गणपतये नमः

This mantra is from the Ganpati Upanishad usually used before beginning a new journey like school, a new career, job, or business as it removes troubles and entitles success. With the help of this mantra, we ask for a grant of powerful energy by Lord Ganesha best known as the ‘obstacle remover.

ॐ श्री गणेशाय नमः 

This Mantra is used to teach good values and education. It increases the memory power to become successful in any course of life. People of any age can chant this Mantra especially children as it helps in seeking ultimate success.

ॐ वक्रतुण्डाय हुं

This mantra holds a lot of power as recalled in the Ganesa Purana. When something is not going well in any aspect of life or if the mind is turning negative and depressed, the divine and repetitive 1,008 chanting of this Ganesha mantra can heal any problems.

ॐ क्षिप्रप्रसादाय नमः

Krishpa translates to instantness, if any negativity or danger is coming your way that you do not know how to get rid of, with a true devotional chant of this mantra, quick blessings and purification can be gathered.

ॐश्रीं ह्रीं क्लीं ग्लौं गं

गणपतये वर वरद सर्व

जनम्मे वषमानाय स्वाहा

This mantra consists of several minor mantras that seek ‘showers of blessings ‘from Lord Ganesha.

ॐ सुमुखाय नमः

Holding a lot of meaning but being simple at the same time, this mantra means no matter what you will always be beautiful from soul, spirit, and face. By meditating and chanting this mantra, pleasant behavior, and beauty will come your way. Peace fills your soul and you will feel the ultimate power of love.

ॐ एकदन्ताय नमः

Ekadanta refers to the one-tusked elephant face deity, god broke the duality to have a one-pointed mind. Oneness of mind or single-minded devotion will help in achieving everything one desires to have.

ॐ कपिलाय नमः

Kapila is referred to as the color red, indicating color therapy. One is able to create an aura of colors around oneself as well as around others as it helps to heal them with colors. As per this mantra, you can create the colors, another meaning is that whatever you wish for comes true especially when you wish to heal others.

ॐ गजकर्णिकाय नमः

Ganesha’s ears are always fanning meaning that people may talk a lot and anything else that is important. The cosmic tune along with seven channels (chakras) makes it able to hear the voices of angels and gods. This mantra helps you develop a kind of inner ear to connect with your body.

ॐ लम्बोदराय नमः

It signifies that you are the universe, all the universes are within you. Just like an entire tree is in the seed and the whole universe is in the sound of creation is considered as Aum. The Aum makes you feel like you are the universe. This mantra means that the universe is within Aum and Aum is within you.

ॐ विकटाय नमः

This mantra stands for the realization that this world is a state of dream or a drama when you become highly conscious of it, this makes the world appear like a dream. We all have a role to play in the world, the role of being male, female, child, or citizen. The entire life is a drama, the physical and materialistic world of ego is a drama, but the truth in us never dies as if it is immortal.

ॐ विघ्ननाशनाय नमः

This Mantra invokes Lord Ganesha to remove suffering and worries from your life. The repetitive chanting of the Mantra blocks all of the obstacles and negative energy that are released from the bodies.

ॐ विनायकाय नमः

Vinayaka is a form of Ganesha with a golden complexion. By chanting this mantra in particular your life will have a golden age. In social settings, you will be well-respected as Vinayaka is known to keep things under control.

ॐ धुम्रकेतवे नमः

Halley's comet is known as Dhumraketu in the Vedas, whenever Halley’s comet appears the whole planet will face terror and fear. Remembering this mantra and chanting it is important for the world peace during the hard times.

ॐ गणाध्यक्षाय नमः

This Mantra is a group mantra used for therapy, group healing, or whole-country healing. It is said to bring the entire group to your mind’s arena, so chant this mantra.

ॐ भालचन्द्राय नमः

Bhala means the center of the forehead in Sanskrit, Chandra means the crescent moon, and Bhalachandra means the chakra from where the nectar drips. These are the secrets of all healing that help you to feel yourself as Siva and to identify yourself with the truth. This mantra is therefore the symbol of growth, nectar, and peace.
