Qureysh Basrai is recognized as a professional artist, for whom drawing and painting have always been a deep-seated passion. From a young age, Basrai distinguished himself by winning several art competitions during his school years and excelling with distinction in the Elementary Drawing Examination conducted by the government.
Beginning his artistic journey at the tender age of 8, Basrai's dedication to his craft was evident early on. By the age of 14, he had already hosted his first art exhibition at the TAJ ART GALLERY in Mumbai, coinciding with the INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF THE CHILD in 1979, which garnered significant attention.
Basrai's art has been showcased in a variety of venues, including both gallery and online exhibitions, spanning solo and group formats across India and abroad in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Dubai. Notably, he has conducted solo shows at prestigious locations like the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai and the Pune race course.
Oil painting serves as Basrai's chosen medium, through which he frequently explores his passion for horses. The nobility of horses is a recurring theme in his work, reflecting his admiration for their power, energy, and majesty. This fascination not only energizes Basrai but also informs much of his artistic output.
While his portfolio includes depictions of various animals from his childhood, his focus on horses stands out for its depth and intensity. In addition, Basrai's inspiration from nature is evident in his landscapes and seascapes, further showcasing his versatile talent as an artist.
