For the convenience of the students the texts of the famous poems of each poet have also been given here. So, while studying this book the students will find both the texts as well as the critical study of the poems. Thus the book is unique in the sense that the six famous romantic poets and their major poetical works have been collected together at one place. In this book, the term, Romanticism is well defined in easy language and the characteristics of the Romantic poetry have been discussed in detail and in a lucid manner. The list of romantic poets is very long but due to the lack of space we have selected only six poets for our study in this book. These six poets are considered the pillars of the Romantic Movement in literature. Generally the scholars divide the Romantic Poets into two categories-poets of first phase and the poets of second phase. In this book we have touched the poets of both the phases for an overall understanding of the Romantic poetry. William Blake, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge are the poets of the first phase and Percy Byssey Shelley, John Keats and Lord Byron are the poets of the second phase of the Romantic Period in literature.
In this book, a detail biographical sketch of all the six poets has been dealt with in detail and all the poetical aspects of their famous and important poems, according to the syllabi of various Indian universities, have been studied and discussed in detail in easy language and in a lucid manner so that students may be fully acquainted with the their poetical style, themes, structure of the poems and the use of language in their poems. We hope the book will be useful for students of English literature and our students will be benefitted from this book.
