"In this way Aghoremani Devi spent two months continuously in the company of Child Krishna day and night, playing either in her lap or on her shoulders. Highly fortunate and blessed ones alone can get such divine visions and experiences and remain on such a higher plane incessantly for such a long period. As such the motherly attitude towards the Lord is extremely rare in the spiritual world. Worshipping the Lord of the entire creation as one's own child! And attaining perfection in this mood and getting such visions of the Lord, is really far more rare and unique to describe!"
"Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi had once said, "Great people are few, they cannot be compared with anyone; truly Gaurdasi is one of them."
After the victorious return from America when Swami Vivekananda had met Gauri Ma, he had said, "I have told them (Americans) about you. Once I shall take you there, show you to them, what type of women are born in India."
In 1894 Swami Vivekananda had enquired in one of his letters from Chicago, "Where is Gaur Ma now? One thousand Gaur Mas are needed today. Such a noble stirring spirit is essential!""
We are happy to present to the readers this book, entitled,"Two Woman-disciples of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna - Aghoremani and Gauri Ma" which was originally written in Marathi by Swami Shivatatvananda and published by the Ramakrishna Math, Nagpur, first in the form of articles in the Marathi magazine Jivan-vikas in the year 1959 and later on in the book form.
Child-widow, Aghoremani Devi's remarkable sadhanas for about thirty years, with the motherly attitude towards Child Krishna; the astonishing, unprecedented divine visions she had and also her life of devotion after attaining knowledge; the sacred saga of all this is indeed very enlightening.
Similarly, Gauri Ma's splendid dispassion and celibacy, her hard austerity, the absolute Truth attained by her and the most valuable work she did for the upliftment of women on actually seeing God in all; the inspiring description of all this is indeed very illuminating.
By reading these two biographies together readers can come to know how one God can be attained through many different moods (bhavas) and how this very attainment leads to the welfare activities and philanthropic services. We hope that by reading these two lives, aspirants will be definitely inspired to follow their own bhava, their own ideal and walk on the path of God-realization and be blessed.
Out Greatful acknowledgement and hearty thanks are extended to Mr. Bhagbat Chakraborty of meteor Books, Kolkata for publishing this book and malti prints of Aurangabad for their efficient work or printing.
