About 1200 years ago Lord Shiva incarnated as Sri Adi Shankaracharya to protect Sanatana Dharma. Staying on the banks of river Tunga at Sringeri for 12 years where He has installed Goddess Sri Sharadamba, Sri Adi Shankaracharya composed many Stotras and Prakrana Granthas.
Under the auspices of Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamiji of Sringeri, Sri JnananandaBharati Swamigal (Sri R. Krishna Swamy Iyer) translated many works of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya into Tamil and English languages. Among them Aparokshanubhuti was first translated into Tamillanguage and was published in our' Sri Jagadguru Granthamala' series.
Due to the increasing reverential requests of many devotees for an English translation of Aparokshanubhuti, Sri Jnanananda Bharati Swamiji was pleased to render the English translation in a simple and lucid style.
Under the directions of Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, the ruling Pontiff of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, we are reprinting this book and I am sure this book will be very much useful to many who are beginners in the study of Vedanta and aspire to lead a spiritual life.
I convey the benign Blessings of Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji for all those who have contributed towards the publication of this book.
