I never thought that I would become an ayurvedic Physician. It was an accident that aII joined to Venkataramana Ayurvedic College, Chennai – 1986 for graduation. The college had good facilities but hospital infrastructure was not there. Butt luickly I got MD Kayachikitsa in govt. Ayuveda College, Trivandrum Where I was exposed to a large number of cases . During My last year of BAMS I met my master Dr. B. Vaidyanathan Who initiated me in the tridoshic wisdom. His Knowledge in Vedas pious nature and his ability to give a comprehensive picture about the tridosha changed my thinking pattern , vision and knowledge . I was able to see the whole universe as a projection of tridoshas . Dr. B Vaidyanathanwas an expert in guna siddhanta . One day he asked me what is the different between rasna and bala in clinical practice. Rasna is Kaphahara bala is vatapita samana so that indication differs. I can tell so much about these things. Then it will become an autobiography. It is Only because of him. I was able to analyze yogas , clinical conditions, samprati and guna siddhanta. So I owe my clinical existence to him. This book provides a comprehensive body of information, important to the understanding of the biological and clinical aspects of quality patient care. Here we don’t miss anything and we will be able to interpret any modern disease based on guna siddhanta and treat . It will remain as a premier medical text for students and clinician in the future years with rapidly expanding base of medical knowledge and the time constraint associated with heavy practice and the patient care responsibilities in the current days settings. It is not always possible to read a big account of diseases, their presentations, commentaries, opinions of various people , etc .
We have to start with the treatments immediately after encountering the patient, so this thought process was there in my mind always which I have put in a book from. It was for the same reason I published clinical medicine volumes which were well received and accepted by students and practitioner from all over India and Abroad. This Manual does not substitute for an in depth analysis of clinical problem. But should serve as a ready source of well crafted informative summary model that will be useful on the spot and that will prepare a reader for more in –depth analysis drawn from more extensive reading at a later time . This manual will meet with increasing popularity over the years because the classes I have taken based on this were well received. It is abbreviated which will prove to be extremely useful to new ways of diagnosis, brief description of pathogenesis and outline of management in a time restricted clinical setting.
I would like to thank Mr. Saju for making this guna book. I would also like to thank Dr. Jayalakshmi, Dr. vinay Chaudhary for their contribution in shaping of the manual in the book from. I pray to lord dhanvantari for the Welfare all the People.
