Arvind Word Power: Englsih-Hindi is the first publication in the Arvind Word Power series.
The Arvind Word Power series is a set of communication tools aimed at enhancing the user’s word power manifold. Every Arvind Word Power book works as a dictionary, a thesaurus and an encyclopaedia and helps users to express their ideas, emotions and thoughts completely, correctly and comfortably.
Arvind Word Power: English-Hindi is a MUST for all those who communicate in English and/or Hindi. It is equally helpful for learners as well as those who wish to enrich their knowledge and usage of English and Hindi.
Arvind’s seminal contribution to Hindi – Samantar Kosh (1996) – added a new dimension to Indian lexicography and took the Hindi world with a storm.
His landmark creation is Arvind Lexicon, the world’s largest known bilingual database of almost one million English and Hindi expressions.
Compiled singlehandedly over the last 38 years, the database combines the functionality of a thesaurus, dictionary and language explorer. The present work – Arvind Word Power: English Hindi – is derived from the rich resource.
Working from the age of 15, Arvind has been a poet, writer, film critic, translator, play wright and journalist. As its founding editor, he ran Madhuri. India’s most popular Hindi film magazine for fourteen years, and launched Sarvottam, the Hindi edition of Reader’s Digest. He has been the Executive Editor of Sarita, Mukta and Caravan.
Arvind dreams of creating a World Bank of Words, a concept not yet proposed by anyone else anywhere. It is, he feels, something India needs in order to build linguistic bridges, on its own terms, with the world without resorting to any non-Indian English dictionary.
Arvind lives in Ghaziabad with his wife, Kusum.
