It sounds like a fairy tale, it reads like one - yet it is none!
Life holds many secrets, its highest though is the quest for the 'Crown of Life'.
Only the truly wise know of this crown and know where to find it.
Aryanand meets such a man of wisdom and sets out to find the crown for himself.
Beautifully illustrated, this book narrates Aryanand's adventurous quest for the secret of life.
He has to pass dangerous tests the closer he gets to the goal. Eventually, his journey ends on top of the 'Mountain of Wisdom' only to discover that what he has been searching for can be found as his own, unbounded cosmic Self.
Filled with wonder and inspiration, the readers will accompany Aryanand and together with him will explore the magical worlds of their innermost life.
The original German edition of the book was published in 1991 and reissued in 2010. This English edition is prepared by the author himself.
Werner Bandel (b. 1951; Wetzlar, Germany) studied photography at the School of Fine Arts in Kassel.
In 1970, he was introduced to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation (TM) and the actual unfoldment of his creative potential began with the regular practise of this simple mental technique. His interest gradually shifted from photography towards painting. 'Learning by doing' has always been his motto, and in the fields of painting and illustration, he is a self-taught artist.
Inspired by India's rich Vedic Literature, 'Aryanand and the Crown of Life' was conceived on Werner's first visit to India for a conference on Vedic Science and Modern Science, held in 1981 in New Delhi. The manuscript and sketches for the illustrations by the author were created during this conference. The final watercolours were completed during a second extensive stay in India.
Since then, Werner has travelled extensively all over the world, but on various occasions, always returning to India for festivals like Kumbh or yoga and meditation retreats. More recently, three consecutive pilgrimages to Mt. Kailash in Tibet have deepened his inner spiritual journey.
It comes as no surprise that he finds inspiration for all his creative work in the depth of his innermost consciousness. This is also where the magic key to the mysteries of this book lies hidden, waiting to be discovered by every reader afresh for him or her self.
