"Aspects of Indological Studies" is in fact an outcome of incessant research endeavours of the present researcher for last more than a decade. Being associated with the world famous Oriental Institute of Baroda, there was a scope for ample research on the valuable treasure of more than 27000 Mss. He could dive deep into that ocean and find out gems in the form of little-known works based upon rare manuscripts. This incidently was a reason for most of the research papers, written by him to be found in this collection, published in several esteemed research Journals. At several occasions, he was also invited to present research papers at different seminars. He also presented papers at different regional, national and international seminars and conferences. The present book incorporates many of such research papers of diverse subjects pertaining to different sastras like Vedanta, Classical literature, Purana, Dharmasastra and Technical literature. The papers, there-fore, are classified accordingly, under different heads for the interested scholars. The researcher humbly wishes to present his research outcome, before the world of scholars, through the form of this book.
The author, Prof. Dr. Mukund Lalji Wadakar is now General Editor/Professor, Critical Editions Section of the Oriental Institute. He secured first rank with Distinction at B.A. Examination. He maintained the same position and brilliant record even at M.A. Examination. He has been a recipient of two Gold Medals, several prizes and scholarships.
Dr. Wadekar has been actively engaged in teaching and research since 1977. He has worked in several capacities as Asstt. Editor, Deputy Director, I/C Director of the Oriental Institute of Baroda. Several research papers of the present author have been published in various reputed Journals throughout India. His books "Devalasmṛti-Recons truction & Critical Study" Vols. I and II, "Devimahatmya-with comentary of Nilambaracarya", "Dharme Sarvam Pratisthitam" (edited jointly with Shri P.H.Joshi) etc. have been warmly received by the world of scholars. He has attended and read papers at several regional, national and international level seminars and conferences.
Last but not the least, Dr. Wadekar has been born, brought up and trained in the atmosphere of traditional scholarship, as his maternal uncle, the late Shri Jagannath Shridhar Padeshastri was a versatile traditional Sanskrit scholar and a great Indologist of International repute.
