Only once in uncountable seasons does the Divine shine forth fully in one human being as in Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
As a child he was often found in spontaneous meditation or recitation of scripture. He was soon recongnized by the enlightened saints of his youth as crowned with Divinity
Today Gurudev, as he is affectionately called, speaks almost daily and always extemporaneously to audiences large and small. Millions have been guided to their own inner freedom and joy by his deep, practical wisdom, his unique technique, and his grace.
The talks in this book are simple and profound – a call to come home and an illumination of the way.
You are locked out of your own house. Bang on your inner door. Right now you are on the doorstep. Do not delay a moment. All wealth is within you. When your inner door opens, there is love, just love.
The extemporaneous talks collected in this book were given by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in 1989 and 1990 during a tour of the United States. They are about what is happening now. They are a call to inner transformation.
We have all heard and read the stories that happened in another time – in Buddha’s time, in Jesus’s time. To hear and to read is no longer enough. Now it is time to see the truth, to live it.
Here we see what is happening in the present. God is not absent, but as caring now as in the past. Grace is not less than it was. The transformation that people undergo is a living reality, a phenomenon that happens.
The poem, “Don’t Move an Inch,” was spoken by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar During an east-west dialogue with The Very Rev. Thomas Keating at Yale University. After he had offered the poem, he turned to Father Keating and said,’You brought it out of me.”
Whatever your tradition, these talks are offered to bring forth the truth which lies in you, that you may give it expression in your life.
