Basavaraj Kattimani (1919-1989) is a unique writer who cherished the objectives of progressive literature as if it was his life's mission. Even when he lived and wrote during the four literary trends, Navodaya (romantic), Pragatisheel (progressive) Navya (modernist) and dalit Bandaya (The protest) Kattimani emerged as an outstanding figure of the prominent progressive writers that included A.N. Krishnarao T.R. Subbarao, Niranjana and Chaduranga and he has contributed immensely for the growth of modern kannada fiction.
The author of the monograph Professor Malati Pattanashetti, former prosident of Karnataka Sahitya Akademi and now lives in Dharwad. She is distinguished poet, feminist writer and author of many collections of poetry and prose.
Professor Mallikarjuna Patil translator of this work is a writer of par excellence and Professor of English in Karnataka University. He is recipient of many awards from Karnataka and abroad and authored many books novels, plays and fiction. Earlier he served as Registrar of Karnataka University administrative positions.
