Every astrologer knows before giving a prediction how much analysis of the horoscope is required. So correct casting of a horoscope is of utmost importance to any astrologer. This leads to the most fundamental and perplexing question faced by astrologers. What should be taken as the correct birth time?
The correct time of birth has been a debatable issue for a very long time. Many astrologers have supported different views regarding this, and have supported different methods. The disagreement between renowned astrologers is despairing, but even the classical astrological books have multiple views on this topic.
The question of correct birth time determination has become more relevant in the modern times as compared to the ancient days when horoscopes were caste by rishis and renowned pundits. This statement seems contradictory on the first go, as now-a-days we have more technological means to measure things precisely than the ancient times. But the statement is actually true and this is also the reason why our classical books don't focus too much on identification of correct birth time and have multiple views. The rishis did not need measurement through instruments to know the correct birth time. They had other means to know, even after the birth had occurred. So they did not stress much upon techniques to identify correct birth time while the birth was happening.
