Much has been written on this subject and no doubt much more is to come. J. E. Ellam in his book on Buddhism and Lamaism has entered into the realms of mystery and magic. He has led us along the historical trail of the Buddhists and their entry into Tibet.
As he moves on to Lamaism he deals in particular with that form of Buddhism prevalent in Tibet. Tibet for centuries a land steeped in mystery and only very recently opened to the world's view has become a place of great interest and many have developed a desire to learn more.
We may learn from this book of how not only has Buddhism been most open to change in Tibet but also how it has taken on some Christian forms of ritual. Although Buddhism has always been known for its simplicity of form, we learn how it has allowed itself to be corrupted or should we say adapted itself to include beliefs and practices to gain acceptance in various foreign lands.
