The title "Buddhism in Kashmir" is a comprehensive and descriptive analysis of Buddhist religio-philosophical tradition from its origin to downfall and revival. The celestial Valley was one of the most important and popular lands in the history of the spread and development of Budhism in Asia but this is not generally known. Most of the people are not aware that Kashmir in the past enjoyed such high reputation as a centre of Buddhism that scholars in the neighbouring countries did not consider their learning complete without the visit to this Valley to learn at the feet of the masters here. It is also unknown that Kashmiri monks and scholars braved many dangers and often risked their lives to carry the doctrine of Buddhism in the neighbouring countries. All these points have been widely discussed in this book.
