Foreword I have great pleasure in presenting before the world of scholars the second volume of the Catalogue of Arabic Manuscripts in Tabular Form which are in the possession of the Asiatic Society. The first volume of the Catalogue was published long back and was well received and acclaimed highly by the scholars all over the world. The work of the second volume was initiated by late K. M. Maitra but he could not complete it due to his untimely death in 1968. The Society then considering the great importance of this work and the way the world of scholars received the first volume approached Professor M. S. Khan, a scholar of repute to undertake the work. It is a very painstaking job as it involves checking of each of the manuscripts and going through it very carefully and scrutinisingly. Professor Khan has completed the work very successfully and with ability. The Society is thankful to Professor Khan for his effort.

Preface This is the second volume of the Catalogue of Arabic Manuscripts in Tabular Form preserved in the collection of the Asiatic Society of Bengal, Calcutta. The first volume was printed in 1980. Both these volumes were prepared by the late Prof. K. M. Maitra, but it has been thoroughly revised and edited by me.
