A Catalogue of a library is a very essential and effective tool to interpret the resources and available material of the library to users and scholars. The Urdu collection of the Asiatic Society is very rich in sources required for reconstruction of Indian civilisation in its different branches, especially Islamic studies and culture. The present copy is the second volume of the Catalogue of Urdu Books in continuation with the 1st volume It deals with the author index from the alphabet and title, subject and Journal indices of the entire Urdu collection of the Society acquired upto 1994. I hope that this publication will help researchers and scholars and fulfil the need for a Catalogue of Urdu Books, which has been felt for a long time. In compiling this catalogue I am very grateful to Janab Maulana A. M. K. Masumi whose valuable suggestions have helped me to make the Catalogue more useful.
