“Thus it clearly means that Swami Saradananda's direct experience of the transcendent-immanent One-withoutsecond Reality or the direct experience of the advaita alone was manifesting in his life through jnana, bhakti and karma.
And not only through jnana, bhakti or karma but through all his smaller or greater qualities related to wisdomemotion and activity, the same experience of the advaita was manifesting in various ways and forms. His writing capacity, his oratory, his way of singing, his scholarship, his erudition, his knowledge and fluency of language, his compassionate nature, his tendency towards serving others, modesty and sweetness of his nature, his calm and unruffled state of mind, his tolerance, his sense of humour, his loving affection for children, his sober and cultured behaviour, discretion in behaviour according to place, person and period, his leadership qualities, extremely well-mannered and decent behaviour to the core – all these virtues are the varied and marvellous manifestations of his realization, his experience of the Truth, the One without second Reality.”
We have great pleasure in presenting to the readers, this sacred biography of Swami Sarananda, the chief playmate of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna and the General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. This book was originally written in Marathi by Swami Shivatatvananda and published by Ramakrishna Math, Nagpur in the year 1967.
In the life of Swami Saradananda, we come across a wonderful blending of jnana, bhakti and karma. He has shown the actual demonstration of this unprecedented harmony in his own life.
We sincerely hope that this pure and pious lifesketch with all details, will surely give to the aspirants, devotees and workers, an infallible guidance and constant inspiration for attaining the supreme goal of life which is realization of God, the Reality of this world and life.
We are indebted to Mr. Bhagbat Chakraborti who has helped us in publishing this book and Malti Prints of Aurangabad for printing it.
