This is fifth book on rock art published by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts under its Adi Drsya Programme. It takes into account crucial matters related to conservation hazards, interventionist practices, conservation techniques, long term planning for preservation of rock art and the cultural dimension of rock art.

About the Editor:
Dr. Bansi Lal Malla, an Art-historian, presently associated with the Janapada Sampada Division of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. He obtained his Master degree in History from Kashmir University, Master degree in Museology and Ph.D. in History of Arts from the Banaras Hindu University. He is the author of The Sculptures of Kashmir (A.D. 600-1200), Vaisnava Art and Iconography of Kashmir, and Trees in Indian Art, Mythology and Folklore (in press), besides a number of research articles published in reputed Journals. Currently Dr. Malla is engaged in ethno-archaeological study of Rock Art.
