In a democratic country, the citizen is treated as the real master. If the master has to play his role effectively, he must be aware of the law under which he has to function. Though it will be a high expectation to equip the entire population of the country with all the Laws of the Nation, at least the students coming out of the Universities with a graduation to their credit should know the basic Law or the Fundamental Law of the Nation, that is 'The Constitution of India'. It is this document, which constitutes the base and source of all other Laws. "Formati a brief study" is written. This book meets the curricular requirements of the Universities in Karnataka.
I am indebted to Sri N.T. Somashekar who has written a textbook on Constitution in Kannada for the under graduate students, which I have followed while preparing the present book. Wherever necessary, I have effected additions and deletions. If any difference of opinion as to certain facts and interpretations have arisen, I have depended on "The Constitution of India" by P.M. Bakshi, Published by Universal Law Publishing Company Pvt. Ltd. I thank to Mr. P.M. Bakshi and the publishers.
My special thanks are due to Sri D.K. Sham Sundara Rao of Kamdhenu Publishers who has assigned the task of writing this book to me and publishing it. I thank Kum. Jayalakshmi who has typeset the entire book.
I hope this book will prove useful for the purposes it is designed to meet. Any comments and suggestions in this regard are heartily welcome.
