The Book Contains a collection of essays which originated from the festschrift that was presented to Professor Arthur K. Davis in March 1984, at the time of his retirement from the Department of Sociology at the University of Alberta. Professor Davis had joined the academic staff of the Department of Sociology at the University of Alberta in 1968. After retirement, he became a Professor Emiritus in the Department.
PROF. KRISHNAN, PARAMESWARA who is presently Professor of Sociology and Population Studies at the University of Alberta, Canada, had been, earlier, the Director of Population Laboratory in the same University and Visiting Professor to the Cambridge University and universities in Mexico and India.
