Cultural Cycles & Climate Change is a wake-up call for people of all ages and cultures, asking that we look more honestly and objectively at the dominant conditions in our society today so that we are better able to decide on the way forward. The conditions existing today have been put in a clearer perspective by the assessment presented of historical cycles showing that the current values, attitudes and behaviour were evident in the past. What was also learned from historical research were the best ways in which such negative conditions were addressed. Another discovery is that the cyclical pattern we discovered applies not only in Western culture, but also to the Chinese, Indian and Arab cultures which became part of our study. It is important that we learn lessons from the past. If not, then we are bound to repeat our past errors again and again. From a historical perspective, we can learn about the key ideas that have shaped our current culture, both the positive values as well as the mistakes and errors in judgement. The aim in better understanding the major influences within our society is that we can more intelligently deal with the inevitable challenges and in doing so be in better position to be of true service to ourselves, to our family, community, nation and to all of humanity. A vital example of an issue that needs to be addressed today, one which has not been present in the historical analysis of the any culture over past 2500 years, is the impending disaster due to the negative influences of Climate Change. All cultures need to work together to change the habitual behaviours that have resulted in a dramatic change in the quality of our environment, the condition of the oceans, the state of wildlife and our woodlands. Lessons learned from our historical analysis help us to have a better perspective as to the way forward.

The cyclical view of time, which is rarely used in the study of history, is based on an assumption that time can be viewed in terms of cycles and that over a period of time there is a general repetition of existing conditions. There are still many people who have difficulty in accepting the inevitability of cycles in life.
