Aim of introducing book DRAVYAGUNAVIGYAN Volume I is confined to cover the new syllabus of Dravyaguna subject of B.A.M.S. Degree examinations as proposed by NCISM 2023-24. Some exclusive modern topics and Pharmacology were introduced in this volume.
The available books on Dravyaguna are not included few topics and modern pharmacologyIn this work I tried my level best to give a brief knowledge of Dravyaguna basics and Modernpharmacology in very simple English, so that readers can understand well.
This work is of very unique of its kind, as in this collected relevant references from samhitä and explained in very elaborately especially the chapter Karmavijñānarp to understand the mode of action in an ayurvedic perspective.
Silent features of this work includes, Nomenclature of dravya as per Nighantu, Vedic taxonomy and Botany, Prashasta Bheshaja, Bheshaja Pariksha and drug evaluation method with correlation as per Pharmacognosy, Dravyasangrahana and Drug collection methods as per GFCP (Good Field collection practices), GCP (Good cultivation practices), seed bank, conservation of medicinal plants, knowledge about RET (Rear, Endangered and Threatened) medicinal plants, Abhava Pratinidhi Dravya (substitutes), Classifications and techniques of aqueous and alcoholic extracts, Adverse drug reaction and Pharmacovigilance with recent updates, NMPB (National Medicinal Plant Board), CCRAS (Central Council of Research in Ayurveda Sciences), API (Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia of India), GCTM (Global Centre for Traditional Medicine), PCIMI (Pharmacopeia Commission of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy), Vrikshayurveda and Ethno-medicine, Network pharmacology, Bioinformatics and the modern pharmacology etc topics in very brief manner as the topics are specially introduced.
The basic concepts are lucidly explained with help of tables wherever needed. All the Sanskrit terms are taken Diacritical font for the benefit of readers etc all are few highlights of the work.
I am sure that the book DRAVYAGUŅAVIGYAN Volume 1 (NCISM Syllabus), helps 2 Professional B.A.M.S students as they need not refer any other book for final exam preparation.
It is also helpful for BAMS graduates, Post graduate students of Dravyaguna subject, research scholars and ayurvedic practitioners.
