About the Book The Editors of this enormous and rare encyclopedia of Index of Songs in Carnatic Music have won laurels from one and all for this extensive and laborious work of Indian Music. This work, now published as a four volume publication was earlier published as one volume with financial assistance from the Sangeet Natak Akademy, New Delhi in 1980 The editors have now taken all efforts and have revised and reedited the work in Four elaborate sections separately for Tala, Composer and Language Indices Each Section is intra General Song Index. This volume is considered a reference Guide and Encyclopedia connected reference materials. for those who seek to know all the information relating to Musical Compositions composed from 10th century to the contemporary period. The work contains details of more than 10000 compositions, 900 Ragas, 300 composers, And 400 reference and source materials were consulted and included in the introductory section of the work. We are sure the lovers of Indian Music in India and abroad would find the materials presented in this volume very useful, informative, and resourceful and benefit expansion of their knowledge.

About the Authors Prof. Dr. Gowri Kuppuswamy (Retired Prof and Head of the Music department at the College of Fine Arts. University of Mysore) is a well known and seasoned Performing Artiste and have performed more than 6000 Music Concerts and has trained more than 300 students in Classical Music Tradition. She has served as Faculty at the Mysore University for more than three decades. She has guided and supervised more than 10 PhD candidates at various Universities in South India. She has written and edited more than 40 books and 50 Research Publications published in Journals in India and Abroad, on various aspects of Indian Music. She has been honored with several Titles and Awards by accredited Associations all over India including the prestigious Music Academy in 1972. The prestigious Gayan Samaj, Bangalore honored her with the Sahgita Kalaratna title and award in Nov 2012. In Jan 2016, the Music Academy, Chennai bestowed on her the BEST MUSICOLOGIST award In 2017, Dr. Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University based in Mysore awarded Hon. Doctorate Degree to Dr.Gowri for her contribution.

Dr. M. Hariharan, M. Mus M Ed. Ph D. Ph D(Hon) USA, is the former Principal of RAAK Arts and Science College and Special Officer, Dept. of Art & Culture, Government of Pondicherry He is an accredited authority on Indian Music Therapy a and Sound healing and travels worldwide. He has given more than 600 workshops and lectures in several Universities in U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, UK, Norway, Netherlands. Spain and many other European countries for conducting Music Therapy Workshops. Lectures and Healing Concerts Along with Dr Gowri Kuppuswamy (his mother and mentor) he has jointly authored more than 40 books and 50 Research Publications published in Journals in India and Abroad, on various aspects of Indian Music He was awarded the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award for Music and the Fellowship of Kerala Sangeet Natak Academy for Musicology, Dr Haran has composed and published more than 30 Audio Cd's DVD's on various aspects of Indian Music Therapy for curing Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Depression, stress, Anxiety, Cancer, Body weight, Pain Nervous Disorder, Alzheimer's.
