This book will benefit the students and practitioners of Naturopathy, Ayurveda and people who want to know and incorporate the principles of nature cure in their daily life for health and fitness.
The history of nature cure, principles of nature cure. applications of the principles in the form of therapy like hydrotherapy, mud therapy, heliotherapy, air baths, chromo-therapy, fasting, diet, Yoga and exercises, massage, acupressure, magneto-therapy, management of diseases through nature cure along with indications and contra-indications, their mode of action based on scientific parameters and relation between Ayurveda and Nature cure along with some contemporary researches are explained in this book. The photographs and figures have been included for an easy understanding of the subject. The extensive references have been collected from classical books of nature cure like Return to nature. Rational hydro-therapy etc. along with some scientific researches. All these aspects make this work unique and hope that it will create an interest in the reader and awaken practitioners of Nature cure to elucidate the principles of Nature cure on the scientific basis, so that Nature cure can be accepted in the scientific community and benefit the community.
Dr. Mangalagowri V. Rao, born in Honnavar. Karnataka, completed her B.A.M.S. from Government Ayurvedic Medical College. Bangalore in 1998 and post graduation, M.D. (Ayu.) in Svasthavritta in 2002. from Government Ayurveda College. Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She started her career as a lecturer at S.S. Rural Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Inchal. Bailahongal and later worked as lecturer in A.L.N. Rao Memorial Ayurvedic Medical College. Koppa. Meanwhile, she got selected in UPSC, joined as medical officer in NCT Delhi in 2005. Presently, she is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Svasthavritta and Yoga. Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University. Varanasi. She has authored A Text Book of Swasthavritta, The Essence of Yoga and contributed chapter in women mental health. She has many scientific papers presented at various conferences and several guest lectures delivered at various platforms to her credit.
Nature always nurtures her children with array of beneficial things. But human beings are always troubling the Mother Nature in many ways. They not only trouble the nature but also fall in a ditch of troubles by moving far away from the principles of life with an erroneous lifestyle, faulty diet etc. According to the science of life Ayurveda, every thing in this universe is made up of Panchamahabhutas. Both the cause and treatment of the diseases are based on Panchamahabhuta principles. Even in Nature cure five principles of Nature i.e earth, water, air, fire and ether are used in the treatment of diseases along with wholesome diet. Many principles in Ayurveda and Nature cure are similar. Great naturopaths like Preissneitz, Sebastian Kniepp, J. H. Kellogg popularized nature cure in olden days, but in the present scenario man has forgotten the principles of nature for health and frequently falls ill.
He is afflicted with wide variety of chronic and destructive diseases resulting in further diminution of vital power due to intake of different chemicals in the fdleinedicine, thus enhancing the accumulation of toxins and aggravating the situation.
The man is constantly running behind money, success etc. forgetting about him self. Subsequently he becomes afflicted with variety of chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, depression, etc. Hence this is the time to remember the principles of Nature and reduce the disease burden of society with very economical way of therapy that would benefit the patients.
