Indian Poetics gives a wider and better understanding of Indian Literature. Even English texts can also very well be analyzed with the help of Indian Poetics. Decolonization of English Studies in India is the basic issue if one wishes to display ones mental freedom. India became independent politically but Indian Universities are still following the same syllabus that was prepared by the British colonizers to suit their needs. India is so rich in literary theories that any English author can be studied and analyzed critically with their help. Political freedom will be complete only when one adopts its own tools by giving away the strategies and models imposed on them. Indian scholarship is thus, a derivative of western scholarship. Indian intellectuals are colonized in their thoughts.
There is an urgent need to decolonize our minds, and English studies. This can be achieved by going back to our own roots. Our own books may be digged out to work out our aesthetics and study western literature. English texts can be understood, appreciated and interpreted with the help of Indian poetics with no loss of scholarship. English texts will suffer a lot without decolonization through the tools of Indian poetics.
The present book is an attempt to assert one's own identity and to return back to one's own root, it foregrounds the notion that our own paradigms are better than others. From the above comparison it is clear that Sanskrit criticism is much vast as all the six schools of Indian poetics (i.e. Bharata's Rasa-theory, Bhamaha's Aalankara-theory, Vamana's Riti-theory, Anandavardhana's Dhvani-theory, Kuntaka's Vakrokti-theory and Ksemendra's Aucitya-theory) are very subtle and divided into many sub-classes.

Her Areas of interest include "Twentieth Century British Literature. John Donne, Comparative Literature and Indian Poetics and Aesthetics" Post colonial Studies etc.
She has knowledge of several languages like English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Odia, French, German and Russian in different levels.
It gives me great spleasure to write a few words about the present book titled: "Facts and Facets of Indian and Western Poetics" by Dr. Richa Biswal. The book is important because it contains comparative views of Indian and Western Poetics both. The book which is divided into seven chapters covers all the important theories of Indian Poetics like Bharata's Rasa-theory, Bhamaha's Aalankara-theory, Vamana's Riti-theory, Anandavardhana's Dhvani-theory, Kuntaka's Vakrokti-theory and Ksemendra's Aucitya-theory along with some allied theories of Western Poetics. The author of the book has completed her D.Phil. (Doctor of Philosophy) from the Department of English and Modern European Languages, University of Allahabad on an important topic "Analysis of John Donne's Poetry in the light of Indian Poetics". While preparing her thesis she had an access to Indian Poetics to some extent. Being a regular student of English and Modern European Languages she had naturally studied many aspects of Western Poetics also. So she has sound knowledge of both Indian and Western Poetics. As a result, the book is systematically presented and it can serve as a hand-book of poetics for the students and young researchers of Indian and Western Poetics.
