This work containing seven books is an attempt to understand some important aspects of the historical background to the theology of some of the important books of the New Testament and to try and answer questions regarding the who, what, where and when of the New Testament literature, the events and their interpretations. The truth, which lies behind the New Testament, must be uncovered to give us its actual intentions and sense in our own time and place. Nonetheless, studying the background of the New Testament together with the aims and motives of the important New Testament books and letters is imperative for every student of the Bible preparing for the ministry and a lack of this study will leave a big gap in the total comprehension of the New Testament. This book follows the new Serampore B.D. syllabus as well as the M.Div and B.Th courses from the teaching experience of the author.
Rev. Dr. Anugraha Behera was a teacher of the New Testament since 1956. He began his teaching ministry at Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, Assam and has continued his long journey of teaching, through Eastern Theological College, Bishop's College, Kolkata; John Robert's Theological Seminary, Shillong; the Theology Department of Serampore College as its Vice-Principal and Professor of New Testament at NIIPGTS, Kolkata.
He had his theological education primarily at Serampore College and University, Andover Newton Theological School, Harvard Divinity School, Massachusetts, USA, and the Missions akademie of the University of Hamburg in Germany.
He has also pastored the Jorhat Baptist Church and Guwahati Baptist Church in Assam; the Circular Road Baptist Chapel in Kolkata; and Presbyter for four years at Union Chapel, Diocese of Calcutta, CNL
