Research is a systematic, formal and precise process employed to gain solutions to problems or to discover and interpret new facts and relationships. The prime need of present era is to elaborate & explain Ayurvedic principles scientifically and find out ways of practical application to suit it to the modem lifestyle.

This book has been compiled in accordance with the syllabus prescribed by NCISM for M.D First year (Ayurveda) scholars. It also covers the syllabus of B.A.M.S fourth year.

Every possible effort has been made to make this book easily readable, hence flowcharts and tables are made wherever required. We would like to welcome all the valuable suggestions from the readers of this book.

Research is the key for any system of medicine to develop itself and generate new body of knowledge. It is need of the hour to revalidate the Ayurvedic principles for establishing Ayurveda as a global science, through scientific researches of global standard.

I admire the efforts of Dr. Deepika Thakur and Dr. Pramod Patel for writing the "Textbook of Research Methodology" for Ayurveda scholars. The book is written in accordance with the syllabus as prescribed by NCISM. I have no doubt that this book will be very helpful for the post graduate students & research scholars. The authors have used simple language for better understanding with illustration of diagrams, tables and flow charts.
