Just imagine. What was proclaimed several thousand years ago about human conduct and behavior, societal living, political and social fabric, philosophy of ethical relations, code of life, and the like, all hold on even in the present times. That's the uniqueness of Mahabharata, the longest epic in the world. As the tag line to the title of this book suggests, there is nothing philosophical, psychological, sociological, or political in this world that's not there in this greatest of the ancient, still most contemporary, literature.
C. Rajagopalachari said: "Mythology is an integral part of religion. It is as necessary for religion and national culture as the skin and skeleton that preserve a fruit with its juice and its taste. Form is no less essential than substance. We cannot squeeze religion and hope to bottle and keep the essence by itself. It would neither be very useful nor last very long. Mythology and holy figures are necessary for any great culture to rest on its stable spiritual foundation and function as a life-giving inspiration and guide........ Thorough familiarity with our ancient heritage is necessary if we desire to preserve our individuality as a nation and serve the world through dharma, which alone can save mankind from error and extinction."
This author, a passionate student and follower of the Indian epics, has been publishing daily stories culled out from the Mahabharata's events and episodes, the less-known aspects of its well- known characters, and the little-discussed conundrums of dharma and adharma, in the social media Medium, Facebook, Twitter, and Linked in for the last two months. The responses from the enthusiastic readers and followers of these episodes have been quite encouraging. I intend to collate and publish these stories as a series of books, of which this is the first volume.
It is my earnest hope that you, my reader, will like this and get new insights from its analytical study, which is the hallmark of this book.
